dual enrollment
Students in dual-enrollment should continue classes unless
  • the post-secondary institution closes;
  • the LEA closes and determines that dual-enrollment students will not continue. If the LEA closes but the dual-enrollment institution stays open, then LEAs can allow students to continue dual-enrollment courses.

The Georgia Department of Education does not supervise institutes of higher education.

We are working with USG and TCSG on a detailed FAQ document for districts; it will be posted once finalized.
Students Advancing to the Next Grade
At the upcoming State Board of Education meeting (March 26th), Superintendent Woods will recommend the approval of a package of waivers for all school districts, including waiving 20% EOC course grade, promotion/retention, and other requirements related to graduation and course completion. This will ensure that students are still able to advance to the next grade in spite of the COVID-19 closures. We are collaborating with the University System of Georgia, Technical College System of Georgia, Georgia Student Finance Commission, and others to ensure graduating seniors are not penalized due to the COVID-19 closures.

GaDOE is developing detailed guidance that will be sent to school districts and posted on this webpage.

GaDOE is developing detailed guidance that will be sent to school districts and posted on this webpage.

Regarding Graduation Ceremonies: School districts should follow CDC and DPH guidance for any public meetings. The COVID-19 crisis is an ever-evolving situation. Districts may choose to graduate and issue diplomas to seniors as planned, but hold formal ceremonies later in the summer if necessary.
GRADUATION CEREMONIES and OTHER SCHOOL FUNCTIONS
Local school districts are advised to follow the guidance of the CDC and Georgia Department of Public Health regarding public gatherings during the COVID-19 crisis.

The COVID-19 crisis is an ever-evolving event. Districts can graduate and award diplomas at the end of the year as planned and could consider holding graduation ceremonies virtually or re-scheduling formal ceremonies in the summer.
